My story goes back deep into the shiny dark blue forest of my Romanian childhood. That gnarled, mossy, brother's Grimm like forest is still fresh in my memory as one of the most sacred and safest places on earth. It is the story of my rebellious heart and the spiraling quality of thoughts and feelings as I explored life's biggest questions. Years later and continents apart, that forest's blood is still rushing through these veins, a feeling similar to the emotions felt when I successfully make art. As a child I watched entranced as my grandfather painted frescoes in Byzantine churches in Romanian Moldavia. Gradually, assisting him, I learned that through skill, temperament and thought "I am an artist". After receiving a bachelor's degree in painting from George Enescu University, I realized that my ambitions could not be confined by my homeland which would lead me to the University of South Florida, where, while earning an MFA, I had the gratifying experience of a true awakening through exposure to a whole new world of content and media. This created a platform for developing new projects where I can explore my fascinations: the spiral, space and spirituality - the spiral's forceful and fluid appearance in different worlds of knowledge, beliefs and practices - its meaning in human and cosmic terms; space on the universal scale from quantum to cosmic and its interconnectivity with human faith; and ultimately, the intersections and parallels between spirituality and science.
